Cuckoo ICELAND by The Traka | 27 JUNE 2026

ICELAND  –  27 JUNE 2026

Where legend meets gravel

Cuckoo Iceland by The Traka is a new gravel adventure in the remote valley of Þjórsárdalur, South Iceland. Starting from the rural community of Árnes, the route crosses rivers, volcanic plateaus, waterfalls, and Viking-era farmland — a landscape where every kilometre feels wild, raw, and alive.
Inspired by Gaukur of Stöng, a legendary hero from the Icelandic sagas, this race connects ancient stories with modern endurance. One course, one big day out in the heart of Iceland.
Answer the call of the cuckoo.
Ride where fire, water and time meet.

The Experience

Legend, endurance and landscape
There are places where time slows down and every pedal stroke feels like a step into another story. Þjórsárdalur is one of them.
On the last weekend of June 2026, riders from around the world will gather in Árnes for the first edition of Cuckoo Iceland – by The Traka. The route traces the spirit of Gaukur Trandilsson of Stöng — a Viking known for courage, fairness and loyalty — across a valley shaped by volcanoes, rivers and centuries of history.
You’ll ride past Háifoss, one of Iceland’s tallest waterfalls, climb towards the volcanic ridges of Búrfell, and cross the renewable energy zones where Iceland’s future is being built in balance with nature.
Cuckoo Iceland is more than a race.
It’s a journey through story, landscape and energy — with one continuous gravel line connecting past and future.
